Do you find yourself stuck in constant power struggles, meltdowns, or disconnection with your child?
Do you feel like you’re always reacting instead of connecting with your child? Are tantrums, sibling conflict, emotional outbursts, or daily battles leaving you feeling exhausted and unsure of how to help? Maybe traditional discipline strategies no longer feel effective, or you want a way to support your child emotionally without relying on fear, punishment, or constant correction.
Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) helps parents strengthen connection, improve communication, and better understand their child’s emotional world through the power of play and attachment-based techniques. Through guided support and skill building, parents learn how to respond with greater confidence, empathy, and calm while helping their child develop emotional regulation, resilience, and trust.
At Restore Counseling & Therapy, our therapists support parents in creating more connected, secure, and emotionally safe relationships with their children—because healing and growth happen best through connection.

The Role of CPRT
Many parents enter parenthood carrying messages they learned in childhood about emotions, discipline, communication, and connection. If a child grows up believing that fear, emotional suppression, harsh discipline, or disconnection are normal parts of family relationships, those experiences can shape how they respond to their own children later in life. Without support and awareness, these patterns can unintentionally continue across generations.
Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) helps parents break those cycles by strengthening attachment, increasing emotional understanding, and creating healthier ways of connecting with their children. Through guided play sessions and relationship-focused skills, parents learn how to better understand their child’s emotional needs while also becoming more aware of their own emotional responses and parenting patterns.

Our Approach To CPRT
Our Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) program is a 10-week, parents-only group designed to strengthen the parent-child relationship through connection, understanding, and play-based skills. Led by Kristie Marr, LCSWA, parents will learn how to better understand their child’s emotional needs, respond more effectively to behaviors, support emotional regulation, and build confidence in their parenting approach. Throughout the course, parents are also guided in conducting therapeutic play sessions with their child to deepen connection and encourage emotional growth at home.
Class is currently being offered on an abbreviated individual basis.
We will meet at 7105 Wilkinson Blvd, and childcare is not provided.
